Medicine with the time to explain itself.

Technology helps, but most good outcomes come from slower things: a full history, a clear explanation and someone checking in afterwards. This is how we try to work, every visit.

01Principles

Four principles, tested on busy days.

  1. Listen before testing

A careful history finds the cause more often than any scan. Our doctors are asked to let patients finish their story before ordering investigations.

In practiceOPD slots are planned at twelve minutes, not six.
  2. Explain in your language

Diagnoses, medicines and next steps are explained in Sinhala, Tamil or English, and written down for you to take home.

In practiceEvery prescription comes with a printed sheet of what each medicine is for.
  3. Only what’s needed

We don’t bundle unnecessary tests. If a cheaper generic medicine works as well, you will be offered it first.

In practiceTest requests above a set cost are reviewed by a senior doctor.
  4. Care that continues

Discharge is not the end. A nurse calls after admissions and new long-term prescriptions to check recovery and side effects.

In practiceFollow-up calls within 48 hours of every discharge.
02Your visit

From the gate to the follow-up call.

  1. Arrival

    Triage

A nurse checks vitals and urgency within ten minutes of you reaching the desk.

  2. Consultation

    Assess

A full history and examination — tests ordered only where they change the plan.

  3. Same visit

    Diagnose

Lab and imaging on site, so most results return before you leave the building.

  4. Treatment

    Treat

Medicines from our pharmacy, procedures in our theatre, admission if needed.

  5. After

    Follow up

A call from a nurse, and a review date booked before you go home.

03Our commitments

Things you can hold us to.

If we fall short on any of these, tell the front desk or write to the hospital manager. Every complaint is logged and answered.

  • Seen by a nurse within 10 minutes

At the emergency unit, at any hour of the day or night.

  • Prices before procedures

Standard tests and procedures priced in reception, and in writing for admissions.

  • Your records, on request

Copies of reports and discharge summaries are yours to keep, free of charge.

  • Second opinions welcome

We will share your notes with any doctor you choose, without question.

  • Visiting that respects families

Open visiting for parents of children and partners of mothers in labour.

  • Clean, every two hours

Wards, washrooms and waiting areas are cleaned on a logged schedule.

“The nurse rang two days after my mother came home. Nobody had ever done that before.”
