A hospital that grew with its town.
Meegoda Medi House was established in 2010. Our friendly staff are trained professionals who maintain high standards, and we work together to deliver excellent customer service. Our sole focus is the patient.
Started by a family doctor who was tired of sending neighbours to Colombo.
In 2010 Dr. Ranjith Wickramasinghe opened a small dispensary so that people in Meegoda wouldn’t need a two-hour bus ride for a blood test or a specialist. Each addition since then — the lab, the wards, the theatre — came from the same question: what are our patients still travelling for?
- 2010
A dispensary on the High Level Road
One consulting room, one nurse and evening hours for people coming home from work.
- 2012
Our own laboratory
Routine blood and urine tests moved in-house, cutting report times from days to hours.
- 2015
Specialist channelling
Visiting consultants in paediatrics, medicine and gynaecology began evening clinics.
- 2018
Inpatient wards open
Two wards and a 24-hour emergency unit turned the clinic into a hospital.
- 2022
Theatre & imaging
A minor theatre, digital X-ray and ultrasound suite, so scans happen the same visit.
- 2025
The new east wing
A third ward, a children’s area and a larger pharmacy open on the ground floor.
Mission
To give every family in our area hospital-standard care without the distance, the queue or the guesswork about cost.
Vision
A town where the nearest hospital is also the one people trust most — and choose even when they have other options.
- i.Dignity, alwaysCurtains drawn, names used, questions welcomed. No one waits in pain without being seen by a nurse.
- ii.Honest medicineWe order the tests you need, not the ones that are profitable. Second opinions are encouraged.
- iii.Clear pricesEvery common test and procedure is priced on a board in reception and on request by phone.
- iv.Rooted locallyMost of our nurses and staff live within five kilometres. Our patients are their neighbours.
The people accountable.
Any patient may write to the leadership team directly. Letters are answered within seven days.
